Cypress Mountain is the first of the three local ski hills to declare an opening date.
Skiing begins there this Friday.
Cypress says on its website that 45 centimetres of snow has fallen in the past week and they currently have more snow on the ground than they did at any point last season. They’ll be turning on the snow guns for the weekend as well.
Cross-country trails are expected to open on Nov. 28. Check the Cypress Mountain website for more details.
Grouse Mountain has no official opening date yet — not that they’d tell us if they did. They’re holding a “Guess Our 2015/16 Season Opening Date” contest on their website. But they do have slightly more snow than Cypress, with 56 centimetres falling the past week.
The skating pond at Grouse is already open.
No word from Mount Seymour yet, either, although their website says, “We will be open soon!”
They have a 57-centimetre base, with most of that having fallen in the past 24 hours.
