Lone Signal, a New York company with satellite equipment on a California ranch, will charge users of its website 25 cents to send a tweet or text message to Gliese 526, a potentially-habitable solar system relatively close to Earth.
Of course, this presupposes that any beings in the Gliese 526 system are actually using Twitter.
What if they’re all on MySpace?
The signals coming back to us would expose us to a lot of struggling, independent, alien rock bands.
